M4 Sherman - Allied Medium Tank (2018)

About the M4 Sherman:

Perhaps the best known Allied tank during World War II, the M4 Sherman was designed to replace the M3 Lee. Named for the eccentric Union General William T. Sherman, the Sherman medium tank was mass produced to help offset better-armed German tanks such as the Tiger and Panther. The American war machine produced over 50,000 Sherman tanks between 1941-1945.

The Sherman chassis was used for several dozen different variants. Among these variants, several were specialized for mine clearance, rocket battery, or as a self-propelled howitzer. The standard M4 Sherman was equipped with a Continental R975 gasoline-powered engine and could achieve a top speed of 21 miles per hour. Stock Sherman examples were armed with two machine guns and a 75mm cannon, the Sherman could handle all but the heaviest German tanks. Although they struggled against German armor, the Allies found success in overwhelming the slower German tanks by often deploying five or more Sherman tanks against the same target.

The Sherman was also deployed during the Korean War but was eventually replaced by the M46 Patton.

Specifications:

  • Engine: Continental R975 C1 radial petrol
  • Speed: 21 mph (34 km/h)
  • Range 120 mi (193 km)

Semovente Da 75/18 - Self Propelled Gun

About the Semovente Da 75/18 – Self Propelled Gun:

Based on the German StuG design, the Italian Semovente Da 75/18 was a self-propelled gun primarily deployed in North Africa and Sicily during World War II. Although produced in small numbers, the Semovente had relative success in North Africa against Allied tanks such as the M3 Lee or M4 Sherman. It was also used as indirect, short-range artillery support.

Built on the chassis of the M 14/41 tank, the Semovente suffered from some mechanical and overheating problems along with an extremely cramped crew compartment. Like other Italian armor, it was never produced in large enough quantities to influence the Allied advance. After the surrender of Italy in 1943, Germany seized the remaining Semovente and continued the campaign in Italy.

Specifications:

  • Crew: 3
  • Range: 143 mi (230 km)
  • Maximum speed: 20 mph (32 km/h)
  • Engine: Fiat SPA 8T V8 diesel
  • Armament: 75mm main cannon, 44 rounds
  • Radio: Marelli RF 1 CA

Additional information about this Brickmania building kit:

The Semovente Da 75/18 – Self Propelled Gun kit comes with the following features

  • 360-degree custom-printed minifigure with two facial expressions
  • Four opening hatches
  • Posable gun and antenna
  • Articulated Brickmania Track Links™

New Release: WWII German Staff Car

WWII German Staff Car

About the WWII German Staff Car:

The use of military staff cars began during the First World War. Before the invention of the automobile (and the radio), commanders had to remain close to the front when directing troops. The invention of the automobile allowed military leaders to visit the front at their leisure, reducing the risk of harm.

Many German staff cars were custom-built for a specific person. The German companies Mercedes and Horch were often the choice of officials within the Third Reich. The cost of the vehicle was often associated with the importance of the person. Several custom staff cars were armored and contained secret compartments for weapons. The 1939 Horch 930v V8 model was one example of a staff car used by German officials during the war. The total destruction of the German cities in 1945 means that very few of these vehicles still survive today, thus making them extremely valuable to collectors.

Specifications:

  • Make and Model: Horch 930v
  • Engine: V8 3823cc 3.8 L
  • Transmission: 4-speed manual

Additional information about this Brickmania building kit:

The WWII German Staff Car kit comes with the following features

  • Opening doors
  • High quality sticker pack

Marder III - SdKfz 139 - WWII German Tank Destroyer

About the Marder III – SdKfz 139 – WWII German Tank Destroyer:

Designed as a stop-gap measure against Soviet tanks, the Marder (marten) series refers to a long line of lightly-armored tank destroyers. When it was discovered that German anti-tank weapons had difficulty penetrating Soviet armor, the Marder was the temporary solution until better German tanks could be deployed to the Eastern Front.

The Marder I and II were found to be inadequate against tanks like the T-34. The early Marder III was an anti-tank gun mounted on the Panzer 38(t) chassis. The early Marder was often outfitted with captured Soviet anti-tank guns. The crew quarters were not enclosed, exposing the men to the elements and attacks from above, such as in an urban setting. The Marder’s tall profile and thin armor made the tank destroyer an ideal target. The Marder continued to be refined for the duration of the war.

Specifications:

  • Crew: 4-5
  • Armament: 75mm PaK 36 (r) gun, 7.92mm machine gun
  • Engine: Praga water-cooled 6-cylinder gasoline
  • Speed: 25 mph (40 km/h)
  • Range: 118 miles (190 km)

Additional information about this Brickmania building kit:

  • Elevating gun with opening breech
  • Room inside hull for driver

  • Three custom-printed national insignia elements
  • Overall tan color perfect for late-WWII dioramas

P-51B Mustang - Long-Range Bomber Escort

Our P-51B Mustangs are back in stock. Get yours today before they sell out again!

World War II pushed aircraft design to new levels never before seen in history. As one of the better-known aircraft to come out of WWII, the P-51B Mustang is a part of the larger Mustang line of escort fighter aircraft. These second-generation Mustangs were a vast improvement over the previous model. Equipped with a Packard Rolls Royce Merlin V-1650-7 engine, this variant could outpace the previous design by one hundred miles per hour at its service ceiling.

Given its speed, range and maneuverability, the Mustang was capable of adequately protecting Allied heavy bombers on their missions. Although Allied bombers were equipped with defensive machine guns, these proved to be inadequate as bomber casualty rates climbed over thirty percent. The Mustang as an escort aircraft proved to be an effective defense of slow-moving bombers.
